A tragic incident unfolded in Canada’s South Vancouver as 24-year-old Chirag Antil, a student from India, was found shot dead inside a car. The Vancouver Police responded to reports of gunshots on April 12, discovering Antil’s lifeless body in his vehicle. Despite ongoing investigations, no arrests have been made yet.

According to Antil’s brother Ronit, the young student appeared happy during their morning phone conversation before embarking on a fatal drive in his Audi. The news of Antil’s untimely demise has sent shockwaves, prompting appeals for justice and support from various quarters.

The National Students’ Union of India’s chief, Varun Choudhary, urged the Ministry of External Affairs to closely monitor the investigation and ensure swift justice for Antil’s family. Additionally, pleas were made to extend necessary assistance to the grieving family during this challenging period.

Antil’s family has initiated a crowdfunding campaign on GoFundMe to repatriate his body to India, highlighting the financial strain exacerbated by the tragedy. Romit Antil, Chirag’s brother, reminisced about their close bond, describing him as a kind-hearted individual who had recently completed his MBA at the University Canada West and secured a work permit.

The Consulate General of India in Vancouver expressed profound sadness over Antil’s demise and is actively liaising with Canadian authorities for further information. Meanwhile, Antil’s family implored Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to ensure justice and facilitate the repatriation of Chirag’s remains for final rites.

Chirag Antil’s journey from Haryana to Vancouver in pursuit of education and career aspirations ended abruptly, leaving behind grieving loved ones and unanswered questions. As the investigation unfolds, calls for accountability and solidarity echo across borders, emphasizing the importance of swift action and support in times of tragedy.
